Team Leader – Network Services
Classification: Comparable Staff
Position Title: Team Leader – Network Services
Reports To: Director, Information & Communications Technology
Salary Level: Grade 1 - $59,524pa - $70,864pa depending on qualifications and experience
Main Purpose of Role: The holder of this post is providing technical leadership to the NUS on network and cloud infrastructure. It includes planning, organising and managing staff and overall operations to ensure stable operation of the NUS ICT infrastructure. This position will act as the Division head when needed.
Responsibilities

Performance Measures
|
- Manage and set priorities for the design, maintenance, development and evaluation of all infrastructure systems of the NUS Campus including Wide Area Networks, LANs, internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, CCTV and backup strategies.
- Evaluate and recommend network hardware, software and protocols.
- Ensure scalability, reliability and performance of the network.

Network Design and Implementation
|
- Test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports and develop strategies for maintaining network infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues proactively.
- Implement network security measures to protect against unauthroised access and cyber threats.
- Conduct regular maintenance activities, including software updates, patch management and hardware upgrades.

Network Maintenance and Monitoring
|
- Manage, lead and train a technical team responsible for administering the NUS Campus Wide Area Networks, LANs, Wireless and security.

Team Leadership
|
- Conduct feasibility studies for various upgrade projects, improvements and other conversions and recommend network solutions to meet ever growing NUS ICT needs.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and training to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.

- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to procure network equipment and services.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate
contacts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.

Vendor Management
|
- Maintain accurate documentation of networking configurations, diagrams and procedures.
- Generate regular reports on network performance, capacity and security and incidents.
- Analyse data to identify trends and make recommendations for improvements.
- Backup and disaster recovery of network infrastructure.
- Submit required reports to ICT Director.

Documentation and Reporting
|
- Lead network related projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Coordinate with cross functional teams to integrate with other IT systems and applications.

Project Management
|
Any other duties as may be assigned by the Director ICT.

Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of Windows, Active Directory and Open source platforms and systems
- Manage Microsoft software based servers.
- VMWare, Windows and ESK servers
- Good understanding of privacy and compliance standards i.e PCI.
- Web based Database.
- Supervise / delegate and provide or organize training for technical staff.
- Negotiate, liaise and manage vendors.
- Write procedures, manuals, and FAQ`s for technical and non-technical staff.
- Configure firewalls
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching and Encryption.
- Ability to make sound and logical judgements
- Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) are a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication and personnel/project management skills
